Book-worm
I was a complete book-worm last week.
Early last week Montana saw temps so cold that on Monday I didn't leave the house all day long. It was too cold to even take out the trash.
Tuesday, I bundled up like Randy (Ralphie's brother) from a Christmas story and went and bought an excellent book: "The Art of Racing in the Rain."
Wednesday, I found myself in sunny LA for a few days. I got excellent swim stroke analysis with Matt Dixon and swim guru Gerry Rodrigues. Looks like I will be trying my best to grow gills and turn into a fish this winter.
Amongst all of this I had my nose buried in my new book. Really a fabulous read. Especially if you own a dog.
The Art of Racing in the Rain written by Garth Stein, is the story of a family from a dog's perspective. Enzo, Denny's dog, is loyal to his master a semi-pro race car driver. The lessons of racing become lessons for life. The art of dealing with adversity, facing your deepest fears, while learning how one dog yearns to be a man. I must admit, I can't look at Madison (or any dog for that matter) the same now.
There was a great quote from the book that resonated well with me:
"Such a simple concept, yet so true: that which we manifest is before us; we are the creators of our own destiny. Be it through intention or ignorance, our successes and our failures have been brought on by none other than ourselves." P 43
Enjoy your week. Stay warm out there!
