Dirt girl
Where have I been? In the dirt, riding trail and hanging out with the best bike sponsor a girl could ever dream of: Scott bikes!
Over the weekend I made my way to Sun Valley, Idaho. Home of Scott bikes. There have been rumblings of my racing Xterra - particularly the Maui race going for the double (Ironman Worlds + Xterra Worlds). Being the marketing guru that Adrian Montgomery is, he invited me to town to participate in few days of mountain biking with some of the bike industry editors. Not only was this a great opportunity to hang out with my kick-butt sponsor, but I also got to sharpen up (read - learn) on my mountain biking skills.
So, 15 or so of us gathered in Sun Valley to try out Scott's 2010 line-up of mountain bikes, take some photos via Ian Hylands, and try out great gear from Camelbak, Camp Chef, Nemo tents, all while getting pampered by Western Spirit bike tours. It was not rough. We rode all day and showed up to a set-up camp and gourmet meals. I hardly remembered I was camping except for the darn cold night/morning air!
The trail riding around Sun Valley is truly incredible. The canyons and open land go on forever and ever. We also got to be the first ones up the Sun Valley resort lift (although, truthfully, I would have rather ridden my bike to the top) and break-in the summer trails. Everyone was super helpful with my bike skills, and by day 3 I was able to really get going on some of the downhills by the end. I even managed a creek crossing!
I have now made my way back to Montana. I am riding the RATPOD on Saturday - a 130 mile bike ride benefitting Camp Mak-A-Dream. It will be fun!
